History of Pontyclerc
Pontyclerc Farm was originally part of the historic Dynefwr Estate, encompassing 200 acres of mixed farming. The original farmhouse dates back to the 12th century as a longhouse, later converted into a barn when Pontyclerc Farm House was built in the early 1800s. Today, that barn serves as the office and bookshop for our companies—Sigma Press UK, which publishes books on walking, cycling, and local history across the UK, and Stobart Davies, a specialist bookseller and publisher focused on woodworking titles.
Pontyclerc also has an industrial heritage as the former site of Pontyclerc Brickworks and the Pontyclerc Colliery, which later became Pantyffynnon Colliery. The farm played an essential role in the community, supplying fresh milk to the miners.
Having been in the family for over six generations, we were proud to completely refurbish the property in 2018. Today, Pontyclerc Farm House offers guests a luxurious and comfortable retreat, blending elegant accommodation with the tranquil beauty of the surrounding grounds.
